Dubai: New Year holiday for UAE private sector will be on Monday, January 1.
For the federal public sector, the New Year break will span four days — two days of the regular Friday-Saturday weekend plus Sunday (December 31) and Monday (January 1).
December 31 and January 1 have been declared New Year holidays for federal ministries and related entities, the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) announced in a circular on Tuesday.
Official duty will resume on January 2.
Tuesday’s FAHR circular did not mention the New Year holiday for the private sector. However, the private sector is likely to get at least January 1 (Monday) off, as many companies typically take a break on the first day of New Year.
The FAHR extended its congratulations on the occasion to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and the country’s citizens and residents.
