24 October South India-Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham informed that it was brought to the notice of the State Government to extend compensation to the shepherds, whose 400 sheep were run over by a train at Ramannapet in the district on Saturday late evening.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Nakrekal MLA had reminded that the spot of the incident would fall under his Assembly Constituency and victims were also belongs to his constituency. Keeping it in view, he has brought the matter to the notice of the State Government through Minister for Power G Jagdish Reddy and making efforts to extend compensation to the shepherds. Bhongir MP Boora Narsaiah Goud was also making effort and contacting the authorities of Indian Railways for waiver of the cases filed by Railway Police against the shepherds, he added.
Among 800 sheeps, there nearly 200 sheeps which were distributed to the shepherds by the state government under Sheep Units Scheme.
Nearly 10 shepherds, who belongs to Kethepally, Gudiwada and Ippalaguda, have taken some land on lease at Ramannapet for rearing of their sheeps. When sheep were going on to railway track, Palnadu Super Fast Express, which was going towards Guntur from Secunderabad hit them resulting in the incident. The shepherds were incurred Rs 35 lakhs of loss due to death of their sheep.
